Start with Hello Week

This week, Palmetto will be joining schools from around the country and the Sandy Hook Promise to put an end to social isolation in the hopes of stopping violence before it even sparks a start.

This week, we're asking everyone to stop what they're doing every once in a while and notice the people around them that may need a smile, a hello, or an invite to join in on nice conversation. In a busy, sometimes angry world, the smallest kindness can make the biggest difference!

Remember Panthers: Kindness matters so #startwithhello!

Look for the activities around campus:

February 6-10: Door Decorations
February 8: Start with Hello Homeroom Activity
February 10: "No One Eats Alone" Activity sponsored by 8 Habits of the Heart at Lunch

Follow us social media to see all the good!

Palmetto Club Leaders Learn How to Create a Marketing Brand!

On January 10, representatives from each club at our school gathered in the auditorium to learn how to effectively promote their programs with our generations biggest tool, social media. Through accounts such as Instagram, twitter, Snapchat, Facebook, and Pinterest, clubs can make announcements and increase member participation. Our fellow students were taught to focus more on creating a brand instead of only advertising. The students were shown videos and photos of good and bad promotions. Each good promotion had at least one important thing in common, it's ability to relate to the possible members/buyers. Creating a connection to fellow students is essential to making your club even better. Make sure to follow the clubs at our school on their social media accounts to receive information, inspiration and ways to participate!

Seniors, get ready for some memories!

This week was pretty monumental for the class of 2017. They paid for their Cap and Gowns, making graduation and moving on just a bit more real, and they attended the interest meeting for Grad Bash at Universal Orlando. The end of high school is getting closer and closer for them and it's weeks like this one that make that feeling not only one of nerves but one of excitement. We are so excited for our Seniors of 2017! We hope that they take advantage of all the opportunities they will have to celebrate their coming graduation; Senior Picnic, Grad Bash and Prom. It's our gift to them and a way to tell them that we are proud of them.

Check out this preview video from Universal Orlando to see what our Seniors have to look forward to! Seniors, get ready for an unforgettable next few months as the countdown to graduation begins!

Strictly Panther Business presents: P-Nation

A new year, a new brand. In conjunction with Junior Achievement sponsor Mrs. Valerie Silver and Strictly Panther Business (SPB) we bring to you P-Nation! Mrs. Silver, a graduate from New York's Fashion Institute of Technology has experience as a children's footwear designer. Having worked for over 10 years with design and marketing for kids shoes, she held a strong interest in the business: starting her own collection of Italian-made children's shoes. Soon after, she began selling Brannock foot-measuring devices, a device that fits a person’s shoe size. As a part of Junior Achievement in her high school career, Mrs. Silver took her experience further. She makes sure the third and final tier of Palmetto’s Academy of Entrepreneurship swiftly runs their privately owned company, this year rebranded as P-Nation under the guidance of teacher Mrs. Mylene Exposito. She has been working with Palmetto’s academy of Entrepreneurship for ten years and pioneered Junior Achievement in its halls.

Strictly Panther Business, located in room 205, is and runs like a regular small business. Profits earned from product sales are retained by the business owners, which is every student in the class, the teacher, and the sponsor, as all are shareholders within the company. At the end of every school year SPB chooses a charity agreed upon by shareholders and donates a large percentage of the profits to the charity. Charities chosen in previous years include: Best Buddies International, The Helen Keller Institute, National Wildlife Foundation and Miami Palmetto’s Athletics department, which SPB donated $500 to last year. Selling products such as wrist bands, stickers, and more, SPB promotes school spirit while giving back to our school and community.
